The three-day post-season tests in the FIA Formula 2 Championship at the Yas Marina Circuit marked another milestone for HWA AG: BWT HWA RACELAB completed its first official tests as an independent team in Formula 2 in Abu Dhabi. Together with the involvement in Formula 3, HWA AG is now represented with its own team in both of the top junior series in motorsport. Seven top-ten times for drivers Giuliano Alesi (France) and Artem Markelov (Russia) in the individual sessions made it a promising start for the team.

HWA RACELAB will have a big name on board when it takes on the challenge that is the FIA Formula 2 Championship. Giuliano Alesi (France), son of former Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi, will occupy one of the seats. The member of the Ferrari Driver Academy switches from his current Formula 2 team, Trident, to the team from Affalterbach. 

The new challenge of the FIA Formula 2 Championship draws ever closer for HWA RACELAB. One of the two drivers has now been confirmed. Artem Markelov (Russia), a former runner-up in the series, will occupy one of the seats for the team from Affalterbach. The 25-year-old currently drives for BWT Arden.

This first appearance at the Macau Grand Prix with its own HWA RACELAB racing team represents another milestone for HWA AG. The team recorded two top 20 finishes in the FIA Formula 3 World Cup. Keyvan Andres (Iran) and Jake Hughes (Great Britain) completed the spectacular street race in 12th and 17th positions. Hughes caused a stir by setting the fastest lap time in the race. Returning to action one year after her accident, Sophia Flörsch (Germany) did not reach the finishing line.

HWA RACELAB is making a debut appearance at the legendary Macau Grand Prix and is approaching the FIA Formula 3 World Cup main race on Sunday with aspirations of securing a place in the top ten. In the qualification race, Keyvan Andres (Iran) claimed 11th place after ten laps. One year on from her accident, Sophia Flörsch (Deutschland) will start the race on Sunday (08:30 CET/15:30 local time) from 21st place. After a not-at-fault collision on the first lap, Jake Hughes (Great Britain) was unable to reach the finish and will have to start from the back of the grid.

After a successful maiden season in the FIA Formula 3 championship, HWA RACELAB is on the brink of another highlight. The team from Affalterbach will contest the Suncity Group Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix (14 to 17 November) for the first time. Jake Hughes (Great Britain), Keyvan Andres (Iran) and Sophia Flörsch (Germany) will be on the starting grid of the FIA F3 World Cup, which will be held as part of the 66th edition of the Macau Grand Prix. The race is particularly special for Sophia Flörsch, just one year after her accident.

HWA AG will add another string to its motorsport bow from next year: As of the 2020 season, HWA will line up in the international FIA Formula 2 Championship with its own team - HWA RACELAB. In doing so, the company expands its commitment to actively promoting talented young drivers and also demonstrates its expertise in the field of motorsport.

Jake Hughes (Great Britain) twice finished in the points at the final round of the FIA Formula 3 Championship in Sochi. In doing so, he brought the season to a positive end for HWA RACELAB. Keyvan Andres (Iran) and Bent Viscaal (Netherlands) both produced impressive fightbacks. The team from Affalterbach ended its first season in Formula 3 in fifth place in the Team standings.

HWA RACELAB is the first team in the new off-road racing series, Extreme E, to present the car to the public. The fully-electric, high-performance Odyssey 21 off-road car will be premiered as an exhibition car at the "Krone E-Mobility Play Days" this weekend. The event, taking place in Spielberg at 28th and 29th September, is one of the largest E-mobility events in Europe.
