HWA EVO to Compete in the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours

Jun 19, 2025

Affalterbach, June 19, 2025 – Following the first successful demonstration runs of the road-legal prototypes earlier this week, the globally renowned motorsport and automotive engineering company HWA has announced that a dedicated motorsport version of the road-going HWA EVO will compete in the 2026 Nürburgring 24 Hours.

The HWA EVO has been developed entirely from the ground up while remaining true to the spirit of the legendary 190E Evo II. Strictly limited to just 100 units, the EVO combines state-of-the-art materials and technologies with advanced engineering, development and manufacturing methods to deliver a contemporary and highly focused driving experience.

As the most successful team in DTM history, HWA has already embedded its extensive motorsport expertise into every detail of the road-legal HWA EVO. While every performance road car offers the potential for track-focused optimization, the step from road to racetrack is significantly shorter in the case of the HWA EVO.

Martin Marx, CEO of HWA, said:
“Motorsport is part of our DNA — and therefore also part of the DNA of the HWA EVO. As the first road vehicle ever to carry the HWA name, it was clear to us from the very beginning that we would continue developing the project in line with this heritage.”

With development of the road-going vehicle nearing completion, the team will soon begin work on a dedicated track-focused version of the HWA EVO, which is set to compete in the SP-X class at the Nürburgring 24 Hours next year. Two vehicles will participate in the race, featuring modifications to performance, weight and safety systems specifically for competition use. Further technical details will be announced at a later date.

Drivers Roland Asch and Klaus Ludwig, who piloted the prototypes during this year’s demonstration runs, will contribute to the testing and development program on the Nordschleife. The race drivers themselves will be announced in due course. The Nürburgring campaign will be supported by a dedicated HWA technical team consisting of mechanics and crew members with experience in DTM and other major motorsport series.

Gordian von Schöning, CTO of HWA, added:
“During our initial test drives with the prototypes, it immediately became clear that the HWA EVO is exactly what we envisioned. The vehicle combines the heritage of the legendary 190E Evo II — which served as our inspiration — with HWA’s successful history as a motorsport engineering company. We are incredibly excited to present the car at the Nürburgring and demonstrate its full potential.”

In keeping with the historical significance of the project, sponsor Hankook will be joined by several exciting new partners as well as familiar faces from HWA’s past. HWA would like to thank everyone involved — including the DMSB e.V., race organizer ADAC Nordrhein e.V., as well as its own employees and supporters — for their trust and support.

Further demonstration runs of the road-legal prototypes will take place during the support program of the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours before the vehicles return to Bosch Engineering GmbH to continue their extensive testing program.

The strictly limited production run of 100 examples of this exclusive sports sedan is already nearly fully reserved. Interested parties seeking further information regarding the remaining production slots and chassis numbers are encouraged to contact the manufacturer directly.
