Complete Vehicle Development

Development of complete vehicle solutions

From high-performance vehicles to race cars, HWA develops vehicle concepts with a direct connection to motorsport, engineering, and real-world testing.

Design, manufacturing, and testing are closely interlinked—shaped by short development cycles, high technical precision, and the ambition to demonstrate development under real conditions.

Development as an integrated system.

All vehicle areas are developed together at an early stage and aligned with one another.

Early decisions with a direct impact

The vehicle layout, packaging, and technical interfaces are defined and coordinated as early as the initial stages of development.

The vehicle as an integrated technical concept

The powertrain, aerodynamics, electrical/electronic systems, and chassis are designed with a focus on functionality, handling, and technical balance.

Testing as part of the development process.

Findings from testing and field use are directly incorporated into coordination, functionality, and further development.

01 — Concept and Vehicle Architecture

Architecture, packaging, and design.

Development begins at the complete vehicle level.
Architecture, packaging, and design are engineered so that all systems work together seamlessly.

Structures, kinematics, and components are developed with a clear focus on feasibility and performance.

Key Areas:

Design of complete vehicle architectures
Package studies and system integration
Design of chassis kinematics
Development of structural composite components
Detailed development of vehicle components in 3D and 2D (ISO-GPS)

02 — Simulation and Virtual Validation

Design and validation within the development process

Simulation supports overall vehicle development from the earliest concept phases. Structure, vehicle dynamics, and aerodynamics are specifically analyzed and aligned with one another.

Insights gained from calculation and simulation flow directly into design, vehicle build-up, and further development.

Methods:

  • FEM analysis for metal and composite structures
  • Multibody simulation to analyze vehicle dynamics and structural behavior
  • Topology optimization and crash simulations
  • CFD simulations as well as development and testing of wind tunnel models
  • Derivation of aerodynamic maps

03 — Testing and Vehicle Testing

Testing on road and track

Testing and validation accompany development all the way to the production-ready vehicle. Components, vehicle behavior, and system functions are tested and fine-tuned under a wide range of conditions.

Vehicle operation, loads, and technical interactions are analyzed directly in use—both on test tracks and under conditions close to motorsport.

Scope:

  • Preparation and execution of tests worldwide
  • Vehicle dynamics validation on test tracks
  • Component and full vehicle testing
  • Analysis and evaluation of test data

Motorsport provides valuable insights for the development of high-performance vehicles and bespoke vehicle concepts
