Homologation
From technical development to approval.
We guide high-performance vehicles through all legal requirements up to road approval.
Technical design and regulatory compliance go hand in hand, forming the foundation for a robust type approval.
Homologation at HWA combines technical expertise with regulatory certainty.
Focus on Global Engagement
Regulatory requirements, international certification, and technical validation are integrated into vehicle development at an early stage.
Regulatory certainty
Vehicles and systems are designed to meet relevant legal and technical requirements as early as the initial stages of development.
Eligibility for international admission
Vehicles and systems are designed to meet relevant legal and technical requirements as early as the initial stages of development.
Support throughout the entire lifecycle
Compliance, documentation, and technical approvals accompany the vehicle from development through to market launch and beyond.
01 — Requirements and Compliance
Homologation lays the groundwork for the road approval of modern vehicle concepts. Vehicles and systems are specifically designed to meet regulatory requirements, technical standards, and international approval criteria.
Key areas of focus include:
Safety and structural integrity
Emissions and regulatory limits
Components requiring approval, such as lighting, glazing, or tires
Final approval is granted by the competent authority—in Germany, the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA)—based on technical documentation and test reports from technical services.
02 — Implementation in the vehicle project
Implementation and verification within the project.
HWA is authorized to develop its own low-volume vehicles and register them for road use. Following a successful audit, HWA was officially listed as a manufacturer with the Federal Motor Transport Authority.
On December 10, 2025, HWA received the type approval for the HWA EVO based on EU Framework Regulation 2018/858, Article 41 (M1 small-series regulation).
For the vehicle’s homologation, approximately 60 tests were conducted with technical services—primarily with TÜV Süd, as well as ALEE and FAKT.
The regulatory framework for small-series vehicles allows for specific leeway within the technical verification process.
03 — Technical validation beyond regulatory approval
Validation beyond regulatory requirements.
Technical concepts are analyzed, validated, and verified through simulations throughout the development process. Additional component testing and crash tests supplement the regulatory requirements for type approval.
This results in technical validation that goes beyond mere regulatory approval.
