Born from passion.

HWA stands for Hans Werner Aufrecht. Our namesake is one of the most renowned figures in the automotive industry. In 1967, the former Daimler-Benz development engineer followed his passion for motorsport and founded AMG together with Erhard Melcher. When the company was sold to DaimlerChrysler AG in 1998, it was once again motorsport that inspired Aufrecht to establish HWA: the motorsport division, along with parts of the vehicle and component development business, was separated from the AMG transaction and transferred to HWA.
