HWA AG AND ITS PARTNER KNAUS TABBERT AG PRESENTS AN INNOVATIVE CONCEPT FOR AN ELECTRIC MOTORHOME
  • HWA and Knaus Tabbert present an electric motorhome at Caravan Salon
  • Range Extender Technology (REX) removes the need for constant stops for charging
  • Software concept from HWA and PACETEQ allows clean holiday journeys in the future

For years, HWA AG has used the innovative power of motorsport to develop mobility software that is as friendly as sustainable and environmentally-friendly as possible. As HWA RACELAB, the company prepared the Mercedes-Benz EQ Team for its outings in Formula E, and was then also involved in the team's appearances as motorsport partner. In August 2020, HWA and its experienced partners launched the HYRAZE League - the first racing series in the world to use environmentally-produced hydrogen as its energy source. HWA AG's commitment to the environment was recognised in October 2020 by the International Automobile Federation FIA, which awarded the company its three star status - the highest award within the certification programme of the FIA environment and sustainability commission.

With the KNAUS E.POWER DRIVE electric motorhome, from leisure vehicle manufacturer Knaus Tabbert AG, HWA AG is once again proving that its innovative concepts can also contribute significantly to the mobility revolution taking place on public roads. After the ZEDU-1 project, which was supported by the state of Baden-Württemberg and saw HWA AG work with the German Aerospace Center to develop zero-emission axles for eventual production vehicles, the e-motorhome is the next technological milestone for the company from Affalterbach.

The motorhome combines all the characteristics of an electric vehicle, without having to do without the classic combustion technology. Drive components and those for supplying the living area are used together. The HWA-developed Range Extender System makes it possible to increase range and extend self-sufficient operation. The intelligent software, which was developed together with partner company PACETEQ, guarantees optimum efficiency, whatever the current operating status. The innovative concept makes the KNAUS E.POWER DRIVE a self-sufficient and flexible solution - particularly as increasing regional restrictions, such as environmental zones and entry restrictions, are set to make travel with conventional combustion engines significantly more difficult in the future.

From Friday 27th August, visitors to the "Caravan Salon" trade fair in Düsseldorf will be able to check out a prototype of the KNAUS E.POWER DRIVE for the first time in Hall 1. However, work continues on the e-motorhome: after the fair, HWA will undertake an intense test programme with the KNAUS E.POWER DRIVE. The prototype will be consistently developed in lab and field tests.
