Hans Werner Aufrecht

Chairman of the supervisory board

Engineer, founder, entrepreneur, manager, motorsport enthusiast – Hans Werner Aufrecht is combining multiple personalities. Together with Erhard Melcher, the Swabian visionary founded the company AMG in 1967. In 1998, he transferred its motorsport activities to HWA that was founded by him. At the same time, his name is substantially connected with the success of the DTM that he presided over for many years. His passion for performance at the highest level still influences the HWA spirit.

Martin Marx

CEO (Chairman)

Racetracks around the world have made up a large part of Martin Marx’s life. After completing his engineering studies, he worked as a race engineer and technical director for GT customer sport and for DTM. He benefited from his many years of experience, and in 2016 he became Head of Race Operations for HWA AG and was responsible for the entire Mercedes-AMG DTM commitment. After being appointed Director of Track Operations for HWA AG in 2017, Martin Marx has lead all racing activities in Customer sports, DTM, and the Formula E and Formula 3 engagements. Martin Marx has been Chairman of the Board and CEO of HWA AG since July 2023.

Gordian von Schöning

CTO

After his studies in Automotive Engineering, Power Train and Chassis, Gordian von Schöning gained his first experience as an engine evaluation developer at Mercedes-Benz HPE (F1). The journey at HWA AG started in 2007. For nine years he was involved in different positions related to the vehicle development of DTM and GT-cars. In 2016, he joined BMW in its DTM project. Next, he was Director of Business Unit Sport and Engineering at ITR e.V.  On November 1st, 2020 he returned to HWA AG and he has been Head of Development Performance Car and was appointed to the Executive Board of HWA AG on August 1, 2023. As CTO he is responsible for development and sales.
