The HWA Team is the most successful team in DTM history, with no less then 9 driver championship titles for Mercedes Benz to its credit. They won the DTM 1992 and 1994 with Klaus Ludwig, DTM and ITC 1995 as well as DTM 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2006 with Bernd Schneider, and DTM 2005 with Gary Paffett. In addition, they won the FIA GT Championship in 1997 and 1998. In 2007 HWA will be entering four newly developed AMG Mercedes C Class cars, and as before the drivers will be Mika Häkkinen, Bernd Schneider, Jamie Green and Bruno Spengler.

The team around Hans-Jürgen Mattheis and Gerhard Ungar will be responsible for the technical support of all ten Mercedes Benz vehicles competing in the DTM. This includes last year’s model and the 2005 model used by Ingmar Persson’s and Peter Mücke’s teams, who will receive the usual full support from Affalterbach during the season. HWA AG employs 224 people, and two-thirds of them are involved in the DTM project, with the rest working in vehicles and vehicles components.

The Team is highly motivated: “Every year we face new challenges, every year the situation in the championship is different, and this is all we need to inspire us to give our best over and over again,” says Gerhard Ungar. The 44-year old is technical director at HWA AG, and member of the Management Board. His colleague on the Board is Hans-Jürgen Mattheis (47), who is team manager and coordinator of the racing team. These key positions within our team have remained unchanged for 15 years, which is another reason for our success.

Last April we celebrated a double first, with the Company listing on the stock exchange on 19 April 2007 and the start of the new DTM season on 22 April.
